Praying at the SC Center

9-11-memorialThe staff at Sisters of Charity Center gathered in front of Le Gras Hall to pray and remember:

This is a day of remembrance for all of us. It brings a flood of painful memories, but it also brings memories of the heroism of many people. Whatever our faith tradition, let us call out to the God who plants seeds of goodness and peace in the hearts of each one of us.

Since 2009, this day has been designated as a National Day of Service, reminding us that we are all capable of that goodness, heroism, and compassion that so many showed on September 11, 2001, and in the months and years that followed.

Service is something that should last for more than a day. It’s a way of life. As partners in the mission of the Sisters of Charity, each of us is called to serve others by our work, our words, our attitude, our care. May we notice and be grateful for opportunities to serve others in need, near or far.

Compassionate God, make us channels of your peace in our homes, neighborhoods and workplaces, and make us your instruments to bring about an end to prejudice, violence and hatred in our nation and our world. Amen.
