As members of ROAR (Religious Organizations Along the River), the Sisters of Charity of New York extend the invitation to view this video and learn with them about rights of rivers and rights of nature. ROAR recognizes that its commitment to the Hudson River bioregion and to all life calls its members to learn more about the rights of rivers so it can take steps to protect our Hudson River bioregion.
Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’ (2015) heightened our awareness and call to integral ecology and ecological conversion, to see all life as interconnected and related, and to see ourselves, humans, as part of nature, not separate from nature. What we do affects us all – humans and other than human life forms.
Thank you for posting the video on ROAR! It was so interesting and informative. As a former New Yorker, the Hudson River is a place I hold dear. Thank you, Sisters, for supporting the rights of the river, among other biodiverse systems. Ben, thank you for the valuable info – How Wealth Rules the World”. I live on Vancouver Island, BC now. The destruction by humans for profit is mind-boggling.Ancient forests threatened with logging. Every day, logging trucks loaded and going to mills. We have a government all supportive of profiteers. Mother Earth is weeping. The more action and visibility, the better off we will be. Thank you, Sisters, for your work! (sending a big hug to Sister Miriam Anne) .
