“Towards An Ever Wider ‘We’” was the theme for the Interfaith Prayer co-sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of New York Immigration Committee and Catholic Charities Social and Community Development Department. Responding to the U.S. Bishops’ call to commemorate National Migration Week and Pope Francis’ call to mark World Day for Migrants and Refugees, the Interfaith Prayer included five faith leaders. They led the prayer from their own faith tradition with stories of persons’ experiences as migrants in between the prayers.
“Hearing Ignatia, Eva, Yiany and Alba speak of their personal experiences was moving and inspiring,” commented Sr. Carol De Angelo, Director of the Office of PJIC, “as was Samuel, who shared how a recently arrived Afghan family is doing.” Participants were grateful for those who, as leaders of prayer and sharers of their story, gathered people of faith journeying together towards the wider “We.”
Beautiful prayer service
