In honor of Black Catholic History Month, the Banner of the Saintly Six will be displayed at each Retirement House throughout November. Currently, it can be seen in the Assembly Room at Mount Saint Vincent Convent. Diandra (Di) Garcia-Heredia, Advocacy Coordinator for PJIC, is providing residents with a brief presentation at each location.
Our longtime friends at St. Francis Xavier Church in Manhattan have a wonderful resource to learn more about the Saintly Six.
Additionally, the Sisters of St. Francis in Clinton, Iowa, are offering a free virtual screening of the documentary, A Place at the Table: African-Americans on the Path to Sainthood, on November 21, 2024, at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT. Did you know that there are currently no African American saints in the Catholic Church? This documentary tells the story of six African Americans being considered for canonization and includes stories from present-day African American Catholics that highlight the importance of representation within the Catholic Church. Learn how to view the film and join an upcoming virtual group discussion.
Let us remember and pray to these saintly six on the path to sainthood.
