The recent school shooting at Marjory Stoneham Douglas High School in Parkland, FL, shocks us into the reality of the gun safety issue in our country. We, the Sisters of Charity of New York, support the students at this school and all other schools who are standing up and making their voices heard in their cry for gun reform. As educators for over 200 years, we understand the concern of parents who send their children to school believing they will be safe. It is time for our elected officials to carry out their responsibility and listen to the voices of our young generation who are demanding prompt, enforceable action.
Our hearts grieve for the families of those killed and injured. We offer our prayers and join our voices with those calling for responsible reform.
Sister Jane Iannucelli, SC

Thank you, Jane. The passion of these young people is so heartening and leaves us with so much hope for what they will be able to accomplish. The world they will continue to study, work and live in will be blessed from the impact of their actions.
Thank you, Jane, for putting into words the thoughts in my heart and mind.
Thank you, thank you Sister Jane for putting into words what so many of us feel. Never in a million years did we think our children would have to endure this sadness,
Their courage in fighting for a change in gun laws is overwhelming.
Thank you. Now we pray that those who can make changes will listen.
Thanks for posting this vital support. I think that this student activity will cause a change
Thank you Jane for the post. Yes. I am behind you in all you said.
Thank you also for sending us the request for letters for the students when they return to school.
Maybe we can come up with a creative , prayerful ritual at our meeting on the 24th so we can be in support of the students and adults who will gather in Washington DC.
