On November 20, 2014, President Obama announced executive actions to address problems in our immigration system including an expansion of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program and the creation of the Deferred Action for Parental Accountability (DAPA) program. It is vital that the immigrant community know about this and be aware of those groups who will give accurate reliable information and assistance. One way to respond to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ call for just comprehensive immigration reform is to share this information with family, parishioners, neighbors and colleagues.
Part of the Solution (POTS), a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Charity, is offering legal assistance with the new immigration programs. To set up an appointment at Part of the Solution, please call the Immigrant Justice Corps Community Fellows: Laura Garbes at 716-241-9811 or Aseem Mehta at 781-898-0151. POTS is located at 2759 Webster Ave, Bronx, New York 10458.
