As Sisters of Charity, we have cared for children for more than 200 years — many of them immigrants, many of them poor, many of them frightened.
So we will say this plainly:
There is no world in which detaining a five-year-old child is acceptable.
They want the public to get used to this.
They want cruelty to feel normal.
They want outrage to fade.
But we will not accept it.
Not as women of faith. Not as a nation. Not as human beings.
Children are not collateral.
Not for politics. Not for “optics.” Not for a crackdown.
