On September 22, people of faith gathered for the sixth annual Interfaith Prayer Service commemorating National Migration Week.

Centered on the theme “Even Just One of These Children” (Matthew 18:5), the evening brought together advocates, immigration leaders, storytellers, attorneys, and representatives of Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim, Jewish, and Christian traditions in prayer and solidarity with migrant children and families.
Among the participants were Sisters of Charity of New York Associate Rev. Rowena Kemp and Sr. Carol De Angelo, SC, along with representatives from Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York, Cabrini Immigration Services, Catholic Migration Services, St. Ignatius Loyola Parish, the Interfaith Assembly on Homelessness & Housing, and other faith communities and organizations.

Through personal stories, interfaith prayer, a special Prayer for Migrant Children, and a call to action, the gathering affirmed a conviction shared across faith traditions: every child deserves dignity, safety, compassion, and welcome.
As Matthew reminds us: “Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.”
