Awaiting resurrection, the Sisters at Kittay Senior Apartments spent the days before Easter preparing baskets for the children who wait in line to see their mothers and fathers at Delaney Hall ICE Detention Center.

Around tables filled with colorful eggs, candy, toys, and Easter grass, the Sisters worked with joy and purpose, turning simple materials into signs of love. Each basket carried more than treats—it carried tenderness, dignity, and the reminder that even in painful places, no child is forgotten.

For the Sisters of Charity of New York, this was more than a seasonal activity. It was another expression of a mission lived for generations: to stand beside those who suffer, to accompany families in hardship, and to answer cruelty with compassion.

On Palm Sunday, Holy Trouble showed up and delivered.

The baskets were brought to Delaney Hall and shared with families arriving for visits, offering a small moment of light in the midst of uncertainty and separation.

Because even here—especially here—love finds a way.

Resurrection begins in places like this.
