The time between the feasts of the Ascension and Pentecost was always a special time of grace for St. Louise de Marillac. In 1623, her husband was ill; she was in a state of anxiety, beset with worries about her future and fears that she had displeased God by her choices in life.
As she struggled, God gave her the gift of light and peace. She came to understand that her life was in God’s hands and that she only had to trust God’s provident care. Ever afterwards, she spoke of this experience as her lumière – her Light.
During this Ascension-to-Pentecost time, wherever you find yourself in your life’s journey, you might wish to spend time with St. Louise through these reflections and prayers by Sisters Regina Bechtle, Mary Ann Daly and Mary Mc Cormick.
