trinity-churchThere were no Twin Towers — no skyscrapers at all — when Elizabeth Seton walked the streets of lower New York. Trinity Church with its graceful spire was the tallest building. Elizabeth was baptized there; some of her relatives are buried in the churchyard that was covered with ash and debris on September 11, 2001.

On this anniversary of that tragic day, let us continue to pray:
“In faith we commend the victims and survivors of 9/11, with their families and loved ones, to God’s compassionate embrace.
In hope of the peace which surpasses understanding, we commend the perpetrators to God’s bottomless mercy.”
